Public Enemy to be inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced yesterday that Chuck D, Flava Flav, DJ Terminator X, Professor Griff, and the rest of Public Enemy will be inducted into the hall in the next induction class of 2013. One of hip-hop’s most original and most stridently political voices since their debut album, Yo! Bum Rush The Show, was released in 1987, the members of Public Enemy has a sometimes controversial but constant presence in the landscape of hip-hop to the present. Other inductees in this class include the late Donna Summer, Quincy Jones (as a producer), Herb Alpert, Randy Neuman, and rock bands Rush and Heart. Kraftwerk, the legendary synthesizer rock pioneers whose recordings would be sampled as the basis to Afrika Bambaataa’s “Planet Rock”, just narrowly missed inclusion
